Spring Cleaning and Exciting News from Mood Balance Nutrition...
Spring has sprung and many people utilize the season as a time for renewal, a time to clean house, and start fresh! With the trending Netflix hit "Tidying Up," everyone is trying to get rid of things that don't spark joy in their lives... but have you ever considered a social media tidy up? Maybe it's time to re-evaluate who you follow on different social media channels and only include those who inspire and uplift you. We all know that social media can be a challenging landscape that often leads to body comparisons, promotion of extreme dieting tips and methods, and the sharing of nutrition or exercise related content that may not be scientifically sound. Many of our clients struggle with comparing themselves to others: what they've eaten or haven't eaten, what their bodies look like, or even how they're moving their bodies. We recommend a social media clean up in order to prevent some of these negative experiences.
-If you love food bloggers, follow those who inspire you with colors, flavors, and photography rather than calorie counts, macros, and "diet" language about "good" and "bad" foods.
-Unfollow accounts that glorify before and after photos of bodies... some of these may not even be real and could be taken in the same minute of the same day!
-Follow body positive groups and individuals like the National Eating Disorders Association, the Binge Eating Disorder Association, Recovery Warriors, Intuitive Eating accounts, and Health at Every Size accounts.
-"Unfriend" people in your life who comment negatively about others' appearances on yours or anyone else's posts or photos. This kind of negativity is not helpful for anyone!
